Clear rules
Terms of Use
These terms cover the kaucio.pl website and the Kaucio app, which is still in development. Read them before using the published version.
1. Scope
These terms govern use of the kaucio.pl website and, after release, the Kaucio app for iPhone. The website is informational. The app helps users photograph, organise and set reminders for paper deposit return vouchers.
Kaucio is currently in pre-release and cannot yet be downloaded from the App Store. A release notice and active link will be published on the website when distribution is available.
2. Key definitions
- Kaucio or the app: software for organising vouchers locally.
- Website: the website available at kaucio.pl.
- User: a person who uses the website or the app.
- Voucher: a paper printout connected with returned containers and saved by the user in the app.
- Service provider: the creator of the Kaucio project, whose full details need to be added as stated above.
3. Technical requirements
Using the website requires an internet-connected device and a current browser that supports HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Core content remains available without scripts, although some navigation controls may work differently.
The app's requirements, supported iOS versions and compatible devices will be listed on its App Store product page. Do not install Kaucio from unauthorised sources.
4. App features
Kaucio may provide features including:
- taking a photo and suggesting a crop for a paper voucher,
- local recognition of text, barcodes or QR codes,
- correcting recognised data before saving,
- storing voucher data on the device,
- local reminders for a date entered by the user,
- displaying a code created from a saved value.
The feature set may change in later versions. A feature described on the website is not a promise that it will be released on a particular date.
5. Licence and Apple terms
After downloading the app, the user will receive a limited, non-exclusive, revocable and non-transferable right to use Kaucio personally and lawfully on a device under their control.
If no custom licence agreement is made available in the App Store, the Apple Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement will apply. These terms also describe how the project works, but they are not a custom EULA published through the App Store unless they are expressly identified there as such.
Apple is not the Kaucio service provider and is not responsible for the website content, project support or redemption of paper vouchers.
6. Acceptable use
The user must use Kaucio lawfully and for its intended purpose. The following is prohibited:
- using the app for fraud, forgery or repeated redemption of a voucher,
- saving or sharing codes that the user is not entitled to use,
- disrupting the website or bypassing security measures,
- reverse engineering, decompiling or modifying the app, except where expressly permitted by law,
- using the Kaucio name, visual identity or materials in a way that suggests a non-existent affiliation.
7. OCR, codes and reminders
Cropping, OCR and code detection are assistive features. Results can be incomplete, outdated or incorrect because of print quality, photo quality, lighting or voucher format. The user should check the amount, number, code value, dates and other fields before saving.
A code displayed by Kaucio is created from the value saved by the user. The app does not guarantee that a redemption point will scan or accept a code displayed on screen. It also does not guarantee delivery of a local reminder, because settings, permissions, system modes and device state can affect notifications.
8. Keep the paper voucher
Kaucio is a digital organiser, not a means of payment or a deposit redemption system. Keep the original paper voucher until you have actually received the amount due, and follow the information on the printout and at the redemption point.
Deleting, losing or damaging the original may prevent redemption. A record in the app does not replace the document where the redemption point requires the paper printout.
9. Independent project
Kaucio is an independent project. It is not a deposit return scheme operator, retailer, collection point, recovery organisation or voucher issuer. It is not sponsored, approved or supported by retailers or operators unless a specific collaboration is expressly announced.
The acceptance of containers and the issue and redemption of vouchers are governed by applicable law and the entities participating in the scheme. Information in Kaucio is not an official statement by a public authority or operator.
10. Data and backups
The current version stores voucher data locally and has no proprietary account or cloud service. The user is responsible for access to and security of the device and for system backup settings. Deleted data may not be recoverable.
The Privacy Policy explains how the app, website and email contact process data.
11. Intellectual property
The code, layout, graphics, text, name and identity of Kaucio are protected by law to the extent that the relevant rights belong to the service provider or are used under an appropriate licence. These terms do not transfer rights in those elements to the user.
Third-party names and marks belong to their owners. iPhone and App Store are Apple Inc. marks.
12. External services and links
The website may link to the App Store, public authority websites, hosting providers or a project support platform. When you visit another service, its own terms and policies apply. Kaucio does not control the availability or content of external services.
13. Liability
The service provider is liable in accordance with mandatory law. Nothing in these terms limits statutory consumer rights or liability that cannot be excluded by agreement.
The user should verify OCR results, dates, codes and redemption rules, and keep the paper voucher. Kaucio is not responsible for a redemption point's decision, operation of the deposit return scheme or the content of a printout issued by another entity.
Availability may be temporarily limited by maintenance, updates, failures, security needs or a provider's actions. Where possible, material interruptions will be resolved without undue delay.
14. Support and complaints
Send a request to kontakt.projektquovadis@gmail.com. Include a description of the issue, app and system versions, and the outcome you expect. Do not include a voucher code or data that is not needed to examine the matter.
A response will be provided without undue delay and no later than required by law. The service provider's full details and contact address must be completed without delay, and no later than before launch, including another contact channel if required by law.
15. Consumer rights and governing law
Consumers retain all rights under laws on digital services, digital content and consumer protection. If there is a conflict, mandatory rules prevail, including the rules of the consumer's country of habitual residence where they provide broader protection.
Polish law applies in all other respects. A dispute may be heard by the court with jurisdiction under applicable rules. A consumer may also use a competent out-of-court dispute resolution body where the matter falls within its remit.
16. Changes to these terms
These terms may change because of the app launch, new features, provider changes, security or the law. The current version and date are published on this page. Changes do not remove rights already acquired or limit statutory consumer rights.
Before Kaucio is published in the App Store, this document requires another review together with the final product page, payment model, support rules and the service provider's full details.
